Excitement is building in Springfield this morning. Soon, anxious students and their families from many of our elementary and middle schools will file into the fortress of Agnes Stewart Middle School.

At 4:30 p.m. today, Springfield Schools Superintendent Nancy Golden will welcome the crowd to the first-ever Battle of the Books District Tournament: Sixteen books, eight students and a crowd of hundreds cheering them on.
