Vivian Blixt
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at First Baptist Church in Eugene for Vivian E. Blixt of Eugene, who died Feb. 26 of cancer at age 81. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Rest-Haven Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene.
She was born June 17, 1926, in Santa Barbara, Calif., to Roy and Louise Smith Tatjes. She married Byron Blixt on Jan. 11, 1949, in Santa Barbara.
She graduated from Santa Barbara High School in 1945. She worked in the insurance business for many years and worked as a supervisor for the city of Eugene until her retirement in 1988.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane Lopuson of Santa Barbara; two sons, Mike of Sacramento and Steve of Portland; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her husband died in 2005 and a son, Jeff, died in 2001.
Burial will be in Rest-Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to Cascade Health Solutions Hospice Services.
Donald Card
SPRINGFIELD - Donald "Don" Card of Springfield died Feb. 24 of causes related to a fall. He was 82. A private family service is planned.
He was born March 9, 1925, in Clatskanie to Claude and Ella Card. He and his wife, Mary, were married Aug. 30, 1947, in Springfield.
Card was a high school graduate. He served in the Army infantry from 1944 to 1946 in the Philippines and Corregidor, including service in an honor guard for Gen. Douglas MacArthur. He worked for U.S. Plywood for 20 years and Eugene Water & Electric Board for 18 years.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Debbie Pfaller and Karen Nugent, both of Eugene; a son, Dave of Springfield; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Entombment will be in Springfield Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
