CORVALLIS - Names continue to litter messages boards, sports radio and, um, insightful newspaper articles as folks speculate who will be the next Oregon State men's basketball coach.
From the rational (Randy Bennett) to the recycled (Steve Lavin) to Bob Knight (really?), it seems anyone with a coaching resume has been mentioned as a viable candidate.
Lester Conner, Mike Dunlap, Kelvin Sampson, Rick Majerus, Steve Alford and Ken Bone, to name some, have all generated fan interest.
Turns out, none has been contacted by Oregon State. Actually, not one prospective coach has been contacted yet.
Oregon State has hired a head-hunting firm to conduct the search, though the firm won't make any contacts until those coaches' seasons have ended, said OSU sports information director Steve Fenk.
