When Kelly Cae Hogan takes the stage this weekend to sing the lead role of Cio-Cio San in Eugene Opera's "Madama Butterfly," the Lt. Pinkerton who loves and leaves her will be sung by none other than her real-life husband, Joel Andrew Weiss.

Could that be bringing operatic tragedy a little too close to home?

Hogan laughed merrily at the suggestion.
