Riding the Stanford wave was not as easy as the 77-62 number the Ducks did on California might seem.

It is true that the Oregon women's basketball team made some hay off the Bears on Saturday at McArthur Court.

The Ducks concluded the regular season by following Thursday's upset win over 10th-ranked Stanford with a second straight victory, their first two-game win streak since a three-game string more than two months ago.

They ended the Pac-10 Conference regular run with three wins in the last six games after losing nine of the first 12.

And they apparently signaled to future opponents - Cal being the first when the two tie another one on in Friday's first round of the Pac-10 tournament at San Jose, Calif. - that while the Ducks are beat up, they are not beaten.

But it was not easy. Little has been this season.

"This game was very important to us," said Oregon coach Bev Smith, whose team leveled its season record at 14-14 and finished the Pac-10 chase in eighth place at 6-12.

"We had a great game on Thursday, and we wanted to do it again."
