Mazda Motor Corp. has had the fastest executive track within Ford Motor Co. in recent years. So keep your eyes on John Parker.

Yet when the 56-year-old South African presents Mazda products at the Geneva auto show this week, the first reaction may be, "Who's he?''

Parker joined Mazda in August as executive vice president and assistant to the president. That makes him the top-ranking Ford representative in Hiroshima, Japan, at a time when Mazda is playing a critical role in Ford's product development plans.
