The United States probably will dodge a recession in 2008, but it definitely has entered a period of slower growth, said most of the five members of The Register-Guard's Board of Economists.

For the 14th consecutive year, the economists shared their concerns and predictions with hundreds of business people, policy makers, educators and others, who assembled at the Hilton in downtown Eugene on Wednesday for the annual economic forecast - a collaboration of The Register-Guard, the Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce and the University of Oregon.
