...the lawmaker. Lobbying essentially an educational process; a lobbyist provides information which broadens a legislator's understanding of an issue. Providing your viewpoints and information not only promotes nursing interests in the legislative arena, but it is a very important part of a citizen's responsibility in the democratic system. The legislators are elected by their constituents and they try to vote on the basis of what is best for their constituents. The democratic process does not end at the voting booth, citizens have the responsibility to keep the lawmakers aware of the issues and informed on how these issues will affect the lawmakers' constituents. You, the individual nurse, can influence the lawmakers' vote because you are his/her constituent. These lobbying tips will help you make the most effective presentation on behalf of nursing.
