MARCOLA - The Mohawk girls are going back to Baker City.

The Indians survived a horrible night shooting by stepping up their defense, rebounding and ballhandling to edge Umpqua Valley Christian 33-29 on Friday night at Mohawk High School to earn a berth in the OSAA Class 1A basketball tournament.

Mohawk, which finished fifth at the state tournament last season, will open the eight-team tournament at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday against the winner of today's 1 p.m. matchup between Crane and Ione.
