SALEM - The state will not have to make additional cuts to education, health care and other programs beyond those already in the offing if Friday's new revenue numbers hold true.

The latest quarterly economic and revenue forecast called for the state to have $120 million more than previously anticipated. The money - most of it unspent dollars from state agency budgets along with modest growth in corporate and personal income tax collections - will offset the budget gap previously facing Gov. Ted Kulongoski and state lawmakers.

That gap of more than $100 million represented the previously unaccounted-for portion of a roughly $800 million...
