North Douglas started the season ranked No. 7 in Class 2A boys basketball, but an undefeated start in the Mountain View Conference has vaulted the Warriors to No. 1.

"When we first got ranked No. 1, we still won, but we played poorly in a couple games," North Douglas coach Shane Mast said. "That wore off a bit, and now we have realized that it is a target on our back, and everyone plays their best against you when you are ranked No. 1.

"They have started responding and realizing they have to bring their best game each night."

The Warriors are 9-0 in league and their only losses this season are to Valley Catholic, a 3A school, and the North Eugene junior varsity.
