District 56 has trimmed the excess

Some insist that the only way to call attention to a broken education funding system in Illinois is to stop passing school referendums altogether. But local schools funded with local property taxes give local communities local control. Good schools underpin high property values and assure happy employees and well- educated future workers.

District 56 has done a good job of trimming excess. In fact they have cut $1.8 million over the last four years. Proposed cuts in staffing for 2004-2005 will affect the quality of the education our children will receive and undermine our property values.

It's different this time! Vote yes for District 56 schools on March 16.

Better way to defend traditional marriage

A recent AP story quotes President Bush: "If activist judges insist on redefining marriage by court order, the only alternative will be the constitutional process.

There is a better and quicker way to defend traditional marriage and to solve the very real problems presented by a radically new definition of a very old institution. Giving same-sex relationships the same status as marriage does not expand...
