MOLINE - File this one under shoulda, coulda, woulda.

With six matches completed in its first-ever team state appearance, Grant's wrestling team was well-positioned to grab a commanding 21-0 lead against Dundee-Crown.

But it didn't.

Four bouts later, after Bulldogs Jesse Linczmaier and Eric Horvath stuck their opponents, it could have been 33-7 with nothing left to do but safely forfeit the remaining contests and begin planning for the afternoon semifinals.

But it wasn't.

Instead, the Chargers blunted Grant's initial surge with three third-period comebacks and ultimately held on for a 33-28 victory that sent them on to the next round against Providence Catholic.
