Scouting report: The Scouts hit the ground running under first- year coach Grant. They cinched up the NSC Lake title by beating Libertyville in a do-or-die game last Monday, but the joy ride hit a sizable pothole two nights later when Zion-Benton trounced LF in the NSC championship game. "That's happened to us before," Grant said. "We get this huge win, then we don't go out and compete the next game. We had a big win over Warren earlier this season and then we didn't come to play against Waukegan. Hopefully, we've learned the lesson now that if you're going to be on top, you have to really defend yourself because everyone wants to knock you off. Every No. 1 seed is going to feel some pressure. You've just got to be ready for it. The Scouts, who have never won a sectional title, feature a good mix of inside strength and reliable perimeter play. Paxson and Finley are particularly dangerous from 3-point range. LF's biggest asset in recent weeks might be its defense.
