Whether Detroit can resuscitate the $200 million offer from philanthropist Robert Thompson depends on how much public support the proposal gets in the coming months, Thompson said.

But that support had better start soon - Thompson said he'll definitely find a recipient by the end of the year. The Crain's Newsmaker of the Year and former paving magnate spoke to an audience of about 1,300 at Cobo Center on Wednesday during a joint luncheon meeting of the Women's Economic Club and the Detroit Economic Club.
