As an insatiable reader of all manner of costume history, I was happy to receive the invitation to review this book. Though research journals, trendy essay collections and lavishly illustrated volumes on British, French and US fashion abound, it is a rare occasion when one comes across a work on the meanings of fashion in Peninsular literature.
