Twice is nice: Stroman and Brooks reprise their winning comic combo.

Susan Stroman is back on Broadway, and for anyone who values musical theater, that's welcome news. Certainly the most honored of working director-choreographers, she has been largely missing since 2004, when her production of The Frogs ran briefly at Lincoln Center. Her newest show, Young Frankenstein, is likely to be around a while.

The follow-up to her first, landmark collaboration with Mel Brooks, The Producers, it's another musical version of one of his goofball film comedies--this one a jokefest satirizing 1930s monster movies. Scheduled to open last month at the Hilton Theatre, it features a cast of first-rank Broadway players like Roger Bart in the title role, Shuler Hensley as the monster, Sutton Foster as Inga the sexpot lab assistant, Christopher Fitzgerald as the hunchbacked servant Igor, Andrea Martin as the housekeeper, and Megan Mullally as Elizabeth,...
