During his early to mid teens Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847) composed a succession of concertos: for piano and string orchestra in A minor (1822); for violin and string orchestra in D minor (1822); for violin, piano, and string orchestra (later with wind parts added) in D minor (1823); and two concertos for two pianos and full orchestra in E and A[TEXT NOT REPRODUCIBLE IN ASCII], major (1823 and 1824). His three mature concertos, for piano and orchestra in G minor, op. 25, and D minor, op. 40, and for violin and orchestra in E minor, op. 64, span the years 1831 to 1845.
