The Central Coast Vineyard Team (CCVT) recently began its second year of the Clean Water Project (CWP) through a 319(h) grant from the Regional Water Quality Control Board. The first year of the project was a huge success, with nine participating growers and successful demonstrations. More than 100 acres were specifically designated as demonstration sites, with best management practices (BMPs) implemented and quarterly monitoring at each site. The results of the BMPs included reduced soil erosion, reduced water runoff and improved soil tilth. The benefits of the BMPs affected not only the demonstration areas, but nearby areas as well.
