One slows Sonja Newcombe down, the other fires her up.

As the 13th-ranked Oregon volleyball team continues its run through the NCAA tournament, it's obvious there is no player more important to the Ducks than the sophomore middle blocker, who helped guide the team to a pair of victories last weekend in the first two matches of the postseason.

Despite biceps tendonitis in her swinging arm, Newcombe recorded a combined 35 kills, 18 digs and hit .303 in wins against Missouri State and Kansas State to put Oregon into the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history.
