MANHATTAN, Kan. - There were moments Oregon will want to forget, but it ended up being a game to remember for the Ducks on Thursday night as they turned back Kansas State, 80-77, in overtime.
This was a nonconference game? It had the feel of a January night in Pullman, or a February afternoon at Pauley Pavilion for the visiting Ducks as the 12,528 in Bramlage Coliseum exulted and anguished through 45 minutes of Top 25 basketball.
It made up what it lacked in style points with pure intensity. There were five lead changes in the final three minutes of regulation, and nine in the game.
Over the last four minutes of regulation and the five minutes of overtime, the margin was never more than three points either way.
Not that it couldn't have been, with some made free throws, but the misses went both ways, as did about everything for some 21/2 hours.
"There are going to be a lot of games similar to this in the Pac-10 season, so I hope we learned from it," Bryce Taylor said.
"We can't be too happy with the way we played at times, but we're certainly happy we came out with a win."
That the 17th-ranked Ducks (6-1) did could be traced to any number of plays, by more than one...
