Article Excerpt After a detailed study commissioned by the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) showed that Mississippi has more than 340 plastics, polymer and molding companies employing more than 18,000 residents earning $675 million per year--the average annual wage of $36,000 is second only to papermaking--it seemed a natural next step to synergize the industry by developing a separate cluster organization.
Greg McNeely, president of McNeely Plastics in Hattiesburg, agreed to head the newly created polymer cluster organization after reading the Mississippi Polymer Cluster Study, with an analysis patterned after the Porter Diamond Model framework, and understanding the need for the organization.
