When Annie Wimbish was in second grade, she had a teacher with narcolepsy, a sleeping disorder. Because of her illness, she would drop off to sleep in the middle of instruction, giving Wimbish a chance to really play school.
"She would review her lesson plans with me, and when she fell asleep, I would continue the activity until she was able to resume," she recalled with a laugh. "Teaching felt so natural. Many years later, I became a teacher assistant and was encouraged by teachers and administration to become a certified teacher, and the progress continued from there."
