Barbara Ousby grew up in Gloster, the third of five children--and the older of twin girls--born to Charles Williams Russ II, owner of Russ Logging Company, and his wife, Geneva, who raised cattle as a hobby. "I'm the only sibling that has resided in Mississippi all of my life," Ousby said proudly, recalling her days as a college student, chauffeuring her maternal grandparents, PaPa and Buma, to church and to visit the sick, and selling homegrown vegetables and doing other things that kept her close to home.
