Earlier this year, Julie Johnson learned that if she worked through the darkest times minute-by-minute and hour-by-hour, eventually the morning would come.

"When we returned from our (mission) trip to Bangladesh, my husband became deathly ill," said Johnson, whose husband, C J, has been the minister of youth at First Baptist Church in Columbia since 1998. "He had a very bad liver infection and developed pneumonia. The problem was that the doctors couldn't determine the actual disease. Over the course of the two weeks he was in the hospital, we almost lost him twice. Jump ahead two months and he's doing fine."
