It may seem that Cindy Dishongh jumped into the limelight suddenly, but the native Mississippian could be the poster child for climbing the ranks purposefully, with grace.

The second daughter of two children born to George Lane, owner of Lane's Wholesale Meat Company, and his wife, Janie, a Pennaco Hosiery employee, Dishongh was a sweetheart--literally--at her high school alma mater, Grenada Kirk Academy.
