When Ruth Cook earned a forestry management degree in 1982 from Mississippi State University (MSU), where she was a John Sharp Scholar and Outstanding Woman in Forestry, few women were entering the male-dominated profession.

But her former boss and mentor, Tom Kelly, took Cook under his wing and molded her "management" thinking through his view of managing people and creating a climate for change and business success.
