Angela Cain: CEO: Mississippi Association of REALTORS.

Angela Cain assumed the role of CEO of the Flowood-headquartered Mississippi Association of REALTORS (MAR), the state's largest trade organization with more than 5,000 members, some four weeks before Hurricane Katrina devastated the Mississippi Gulf Coast--and taking with it the remnants of her original job description.

"I knew in the hours before the storm hit that my role was about to change dramatically as our organization grappled with the enormous housing crisis that could and would devastate our state," recalled Cain. "With the support of our executive committee, I worked with our attorneys the day prior to Katrina to establish the first Mississippi REALTOR Hurricane Relief Fund. Our purpose was clear--assist Mississippi citizens who sustained significant damage to their primary residences ... and do so broadly, swiftly and without a lot of red tape."
