When people ask Kate Barron how she started her business, she replies, "I went one day and got business cards printed up."

"It truly was that simple for me to follow my dreams," said Barron, 26, who founded A Bash Events in Oxford on a shoestring budget and quickly built it into a must-use events-planning service. In 2006, readers of The Oxford Eagle voted it the city's "Best Kept Secret."

Barron's grandfather inspired her to never give up, even as a teenager with little to offer companies.
