Specialty foods, holiday ideas part of open house

Slow Food Eugene and the OSU/Lane County Extension Service will hold an open house and tasting buffet Sunday to celebrate the best of Oregon's bounty.

The event will feature home-processed foods and specialty items by master food preservers, including old-fashioned apple cider prepared with an apple press.

Other highlights include ideas for the holidays; health, safety and nutrition information; advice for do-it-yourselfers; bread by Lane Community College instructor Sandy Scheetz; and a drawing for jam, jellies, specialty items and fall centerpieces.
