Northwest Christian College athletic director Corey Anderson was delayed for a meeting Monday morning when he got held up entertaining a recruit in his office.

The potential player was a girl from perennial state high school basketball powerhouse Oregon City, and her interest in becoming a Beacon was legitimate.

"That wouldn't have happened before," Anderson said.

Welcome to the changing world of collegiate athletics at NCC, a school in the midst of an athletic transformation complete with new sports, new uniforms, a new logo, a new conference and even a new name when the school becomes Northwest Christian University on July 1, 2008.

"It's definitely an exciting time," said Anderson, who in only his second year at the school after a long career as AD and boys basketball coach at Marist High is the guiding force behind the Beacons' recent changes.
