A recent Sunday afternoon stroll along the Prado in Balboa Park reminded me of one of those French Impressionist paintings that capture the summertime crowds of a bygone era.

San Diegans were out in droves. Old couples leaned on each other to keep each other standing, while young couples took turns with the screaming infant in the stroller. Kids running to and fro, and everyone lightly dressed in whites and pastels to match the mid-September weather.

I was on my way to catch the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit at the San Diego Natural History Museum, when the thought came to me that this was all pretty darn nice.
