Two years ago, was seeking a new way to encourage consumers to go beyond the 4-by-6 print when he discovered CAMEO Style, Philadelphia, Pa. (www.cameostyle .com), which provides the CAMEO Style Creative Kiosk to help retailers offer photo albums, picture frames, calendars, journals, and other products to consumers.

"I wanted a solution I could offer my own customers that would help create and personalize their products. After meeting the folks from CAMEO Style, I licensed that technology for my own shop," Butz says. "It grew to a huge success, and I really felt in my bones this was something I wanted to take to market and preach--not just sell, but really preach--to other photo retailers."

Sold on the idea

Butz was so impressed with CAMEO Style, he took over the company from founders Gary Orenstein and Mark Risher, who have both moved on to other opportunities.
