Following double knee replacement surgery--both partials--in early February, I wrote a column sharing my experience. I was surprised at the interest that my new, store-bought knees column generated. It appears that many of you are contemplating joint replacement and are anxious for information about the surgery and recovery from the patient's perspective.

In addition to questions about the pain and rehab process a lot of people wanted to know how much it cost to have joint replacement surgery. Before I committed to having the surgery done I asked both doctors and the hospital how much it was going to cost. I never got a definite, or even an approximate, answer from anybody.
