Brit Hume, the moderator, joined by other Fox News commentators, introduced the eight candidates to the stage. Allegedly drawn by lot, it was interesting that the most prominent candidates were in the center of the stage, while the lesser-known candidates were on the sides.
The debate began with what seemed to be questions about minor peripheral matters, such as the effect of Fred Thompson's entrance into the race that day but his failure previously to have engaged in retail politics. Also, style, family values...
