On October 27, Butoh pioneer Kazuo Ohno turns 101, and New York City--the site of many of his lauded performances--will celebrate with three weeks of festivities. To top last year's party in Japan (which included performances, a photo exhibition, and screenings of Ohno's films), the Japan Society plans to host a public birthday fete for Ohno that includes a three-week "Butoh Parade," bringing together generations of Butoh-influenced artists to honor their great mentor.
