Church Musician Today (ISSN 1550-5294), published by the Southern Baptist Convention, has ceased with volume 5, number 6 (2002). The journal began with volume 1, number 1 in September 1997, replacing the Church Musician (ISSN 0009-6466) which began in 1950 as a monthly publication; in 1991 it switched to a quarterly publishing schedule. Church Musician Today had been a forum for ideas on hymnody trends, worship planning, and ideas on music and worship. It often included interviews and music and book reviews.
