By the time Lee Corso made his much-anticipated prediction Saturday morning, Oregon fans already had established Eugene as one of the favorite stops for ESPN's College GameDay crew.
At 8:59 a.m., Corso, the popular over-the-top TV analyst, picked up a hidden Duck mascot head and pulled it over his head, echoing the prediction he made seven years ago in the pregame show's only previous visit to Eugene.
The crowd of about 6,000 roared. Even on a dark and damp morning, the energy was contagious.
"If my wife and kids are watching, pack your bags - we're moving to Eugene, Oregon," analyst Kirk Herbstreit announced during the opening moments of the show. "This is heaven."
Afterward, Lee Fitting, the show's producer, said schools like Oregon that don't often host GameDay are usually the most enthusiastic.
"The scene out here for a 7 a.m. taping was top-notch," Fitting said....
