Close 100 years later, L.L. Bean (www.llbean.com) stores are maintaining those original customer service standards. Since 2000, all seven East Coast locations have offered customer-focused Walk-On Adventures.

The aim of Walk-On Adventures is to provide customers hands-on experience with different products and handling techniques. Adventures in kayaking, fly casting, sporting clays, archery, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing are offered on a seasonal basis. Each consumer signs up in the store the day they want to participate, pays a fee of $15 and is provided round-trip shuttle transportation from the store to the designated location.
