CORVALLIS - What does the quarterback matter?

Uh, maybe not all that much, based on opening night at Oregon State.

As OSU's rotation of quarterbacks played to no conclusion, the Beavers rode ever-reliable senior Yvenson Bernard and the big plays of a couple of freshman receivers, James Rodgers and Darrell Catchings, to a 24-7 victory over Utah on Thursday before an announced crowd of 40,409 in Reser Stadium.

Bernard ran 29 times for 165 yards and two scores and finished with 188 all-purpose yards, including four receptions. Rodgers added another 62 yards on four rushes. Catchings, after what looked at the time...
