At the beginning of this book, Tim Bowden is described as 'an acclaimed oral historian, broadcaster, and radio and television documentary maker who for many years, as host of Backchat, was known as the voice of the ABC'. He is all that and more: this biographical note should also have added that Tim Bowden is easily irritated. By the time I'd reached the end of his travels through the Kimberley region, I was more than a little surprised that the book hadn't been titled Penelope Grumbles...
