Lucille Edwards

A memorial service will be held Jan. 31 for Lucille Vaneal Edwards of Eugene, who died Jan. 28 of age-related causes. She was 82.

Edwards was born June 4, 1921, in Riverton, Wyo., to James and VanDelia Hicks. She married George Edwards in Olympia on April 1, 1942. He died July 4, 1997.

She settled in this area 58 years ago and was a homemaker. Her interests included oil painting. She enjoyed her family, especially her grand- children.

Survivors include three sons, Fred and Doug, both of Eugene, and Richard of Selma; a daughter, Debbe Kajah of Eugene; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Saturday's service will be held at 3 p.m. at England's Eugene Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens in Eugene.

Maylene Rice

PLEASANT HILL - A celebration of life and potluck will be held Jan. 31 for Maylene Marie "Mike" Rice of Pleasant Hill, who died Jan. 26 of cancer. She was 66.

Rice was born Dec. 1, 1937, in Portland to Horace and Vivian Bond Meacham. She married Gerald "Bunny" Rice on Oct. 21, 1954.

She lived in Portland and Fall Creek before settling in Pleasant Hill.

She graduated from Lowell High School in 1955. She worked as a housekeeper, and she enjoyed gardening and collecting antiques. She especially enjoyed kitties and her family.

Survivors include a daughter, Debrae Prenevost of Fall Creek; a sister, Dody Kern of Nampa, Idaho; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A daughter, Geri Miller-Hyland, died previously.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene. The celebration of life and potluck will be held at 2 p.m. at the Fall Creek Christian Church. Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Hospital for Children, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.

Robert Van Orden

JUNCTION CITY - The funeral will be held Feb. 4 for Robert R. "Bob" Van Orden Jr., of Junction City, who died Jan. 26 of heart failure. He was 74.
