The idea to build the grandchildren's cabin was born of two things: Nostalgia and resources.

I'd built a cabin for our two sons years ago out of wooden pallets that a fireworks distributor in Bellevue, Wash., was unloading. And now, nearly 20 years later, I'd accumulated 10 pallets on which my self-published books had been shipped. (Eat your heart out, Stephen King.)
