Annual GEARS `Blackberry bRamble' rides Sunday

Bicyclists will have their choice of four routes ranging from 20 to 100 miles in length Sunday when the Greater Eugene Area RiderS cycling club holds its ninth annual Blackberry bRamble event. Ride options include the 100-mile Wolf Creek Century, the 64-mile Poodle Creek Metric Century, a 43-mile Coyote Creek ride and a 20-mile family ride. All rides begin and end at the EWEB Plaza, where participants are served blackberry pie upon completion of their ride. Entry fees are $25 for the three longer rides, $15 for the family ride. Outdoor Program to offer sea kayaking clinic

A two-part introduction to sea kayaking clinic will be conducted by the University of Oregon Outdoor Program this week. The clinic will cover the boats and other equipment, navigation, safety concerns, packing and paddling skills. The first session, 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Outdoor Program Barn at 18th and University streets, is free. The second session, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, costs $20 ($15 for UO students and members of the Outdoor Program cooperative). Details: 346-4365.
