It was as if the clock wouldn't run fast enough.
Oregon's lead over California had dwindled from 23 points down to six points with still three minutes remaining. James Davis, the healthiest point guard the Ducks had Thursday night, had already been to the bench twice in the second half to stretch cramping calf muscles and drink more liquids.
Could the Ducks hold on?
`It was man up, guys,' Ian Crosswhite said. `We've got to come together here.'
That Oregon did, scoring nine of the game's final dozen points for a 68-56 win over the Bears, giving those firmest believers among the 9,087 in McArthur Court the spur to chant `Bring on Stanford,' in anticipation of Saturday's meeting with the unbeaten and second-ranked Cardinal.

`That's a compliment to these guys, for this team to be battling for second,' UO coach Ernie Kent said.
