Indulge in "Indie Sex" or "Respect Yourself?" The choice is yours.
Then again, you can always "Respect Yourself" and then leap right into "Indie Sex." Bless the TV gods for that scheduling.
Actually, these are the titles of two good, solid, informative if not exactly staid or chaste documentaries. Airing at 9 p.m. Wednesday on WTTW Channel 11, "Respect Yourself" draws on the Staple Singers' hit of the same name to reflect the story of Stax Records, the Memphis label that played Soulville, U.S.A., to Motown's Hitsville, U.S.A., in Detroit during the '60s.
Then the Independent Film Channel cranks up the four-part documentary series "Indie Sex," examining sex in cinema, with an opening episode on censorship at 11 p.m.
