It was important for more representatives of the organization to have this opportunity to meet individually with members of Congress. In past years, Mail Boxes Etc., Inc., the company that franchises the Mail Boxes Etc. and the UPS Store brands in the United States, has brought the chairperson of its Franchisee Advisory Council and other franchisees to Franchise Appreciation Day. Last year, the system brought its entire council. Participants came away from that experience with a greater appreciation for the American political process and the ability of one voice to make a difference. Besides the obvious impact these owners had on their lawmakers, they personally saw the influence they could have in conjunction with the International Franchise Association in educating individual members of Congress about matters of importance to all small-business owners.
