Legislation and Evidence-Based Instruction

Educational accountability has been a goal of federal support for education for a long time. The Individualized Education Program (IEP) instructional process of the Individuals" with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA) is to provide accountability for learning of children with disabilities. A central piece of authorization of the "No Child Left Behind Act" (NCLB) of the 2002 legislation was evidence-based instruction. It was mentioned in this law approximately 100 times.

Hierarchical Progressions and Evidence-Based Instruction

The foundation for evidence-based instruction is defined through hierarchical progressions. These progressions are well known in progressive-resistive exercise. Increasing the weight lifted or the repetitions are examples of hierarchical components of progressions of evidence-based instruction. These hierarchical aspects can be applied to most physical activity curricula.
