Gene Blanton
SPRINGFIELD - The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 2, at Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home for Gene M. Blanton of Springfield. He died June 27 of age-related causes at age 76.
He was born Nov. 6, 1930, in Lebanon to Marion and Bernice Wray Blanton. He and his wife, Billie, were married June 17, 1951, in Eugene.
He graduated from University High School in Eugene. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars.
Blanton worked in the timber industry as a timber faller and heavy equipment operator. He was employed by U.S. Plywood, Willamette Industries and the Bohemia lamination plant in Saginaw, until he retired.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Teresa Collver of Bend, Suzanne Plautz of Springfield and Melinda Hyde of Eugene; three sons, Stephen and Troy, both of Eugene, and Mark of Springfield; two sisters, Marian Lawson and Joyce Carpenter, both of Eugene; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Springfield Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Remembrances to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

A gathering will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 8, at 5921 Jessica Lane in Springfield for Garry Lee Connelly of Eugene. He died June 22 of cancer at age 69.
