Shares of Trinity Industries Inc. jumped Thursday 2007-06-28 in midday trading after the diversified industrial company said it purchased a 20 percent stake in newly formed TRIP Rail Holdings LLC, which will provide railcar leasing and management services in North America.

Five private investors own the remaining 80 percent of the company.

As part of the agreement, a subsidiary of TRIP will purchase about $1.4 billion in railcars from Trinity and its leasing company over the next two years. Trinity's leasing company will manage and service...
